To create a website banner follow the steps given below.

To create the banner size click on the File to open a new file. Give your desired measures to the width and height to the file, for example, width 780px and height 120px. The maximum height you can go for is 140px. A banner can be made flexible according to the design.

Next is to give the background color. First create a new layer, say, bgcolor. Change the foreground color to your choice and then click on the Paint Bucket Tool in the tools panel on the right. On clicking the canvas the background gets the new color of your choice.

For giving the inside background color create a new layer and select the Rectangular Marquee Tool in the tools panel on the right. Make the rectangle width 760px and height 100px inside the background and fill it with your desired color using the paint bucket tool.

Now create a new layer for the logo background, logobkg. With the Rectangular Marquee Tool make a rectangle of width 120px and height 100px and put the rectangle in the left side of the banner. Fill it with the desired color. Create another layer for the logo. Choose the custom shape tool in the tools panel on the right and click on the Shape drop down menu on the top toolbar. Clicking on the arrow, select an ornament and drag it in the space for the logo. Position it to occupy in the middle of the logo background. This temporary ornament logo could be later replaced by the company logo.

Now you have to create the vertical lines in the banner. For that, create a new layer and name it band. Choosing Rectangular Marquee Tool, create the rectangle with width 7px and height 120px. Putting the rectangle in the middle of the banner, fill it with the desired color. You need four copies of the layer band. For making a copy, right click on the layer. On clicking the duplicate, a screen, Duplicate Layer will appear. Give the name of the layer as band copy and click OK. Repeat the same with the other three band copies, band copy2, band copy3 and band copy4. Position the bands properly in the banner.

For the logo border create a new layer, namely border. With Rectangular Marquee Tool make a rectangle of size 20px width and 100px height and fill it with the color of your choice. Place the rectangle on the right side of the logo background and make a new copy for the left of the logo background.
To create the dashed lines, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (text tool) and using the hyphen key .type" _________".Put it on the top of the banner and make a duplicate one for the bottom.
Lastly type the Company Name or the website name with the text tool  in the desired color.
